RIP - Astute Gamers: 2011-2014

It's officially over now, guys.

We started off with around 30 regulars who all vowed to post regularly for the foreseeable future, and to advertise to bring more people, but sadly, the opposite occurred, and over time we've slowly lost users.

I tried to get them to come when they've been absent, and their reasoning was that they don't spend as much time on forums any more, but sure enough they came straight back to make a post or two, then disappear again to the point where I couldn't ask them to come again as it was simply obvious they didn't want to be here.

Then, as we all know, we ended up with about 6 "classic line-up" regulars with me, Cade, Xeno, Methos, Holly, Dark, and later Killak, and I thank you, whoever of you is reading of this, for posting for so long.

We had a good run.  

Sadly, with Methos running off, then Holly and Dark sticking to G+ hangouts, we've been left barren of threads and anything to discuss, to the point where I now notice Cade, Xeno and myself not even bothering to show.

Since this site is already set up and free of charge, I'll just let it float off into the vastness of the internetverse, and check back from time to time. I'll still use it as a hub for those who wish to communicate with me via here, like Killak sending me a pic of his new wheels.

But as for regularly posting and posting up news threads, I'm afraid I'm out too, gentlemen.

It's been fun and I believe for a simple brand and forum, we forged some memories here.

Just as a clarification, I didn't make this thread with any bitterness or contempt for anyone who didn't show or decided to leave.  I've learned a lot in the past year or so from the very same phenomenon I've found in lots of the internet friendship avenues.  I met the majority of friends I've made online through GameFAQs from 2007 to 2009, and back last gen it was great as we all convened on the PS3 board, but unfortunately over time, I've noticed everyone disappear into their own thing.  I see none of the regulars from last gen on the PS4 board or even posting back on the PS3 board any more.  All the names I recognise have moved onto greener pastures; EvoAnubis/DeAno has his own thing on G+, Rob is now a reviewer and posts among his comments to his articles, ArcticBlonde/Pam gave up forums, Methos... well he just pisses everyone off wherever he goes lol, and we've all just bounced around to different places and fragmented. The only negative thing I feel in all this is that I imagined that no matter how popular, social, successful, rich, powerful, etc, any of us became, we'd all be posting together over the years and checking in.  Sadly, as with most things in life, it didn't pan out.  

But, life is about moving on and moving forward.  So with that, I wish everyone the best for the future.

Figured this was coming. Definitely enjoyed my time on these forums. I have still been checking in the past few weeks, but because nobody is really posting, I don't really post all that much.

And yeah, you're free to register and post as much as you like. It can be used as a dumping ground for whatever you want to post up.

I just simply won't post or moderate it. When I say I won't post, I mean I won't make a thread with some news, or actively engage in others.

If something is posted that is compelling and post-worthy, I may submit a reply. But it won't be for months at a time.

I forgot the posts reset, I'm pretty sure I had 1000. Maybe not lol

Yeah.. I think old posts get purged and when they are purged, they don't count towards your post count. Maybe.
